National Institute of Urban Affairs, with support from Bernard van Leer Foundation, is implementing the Infant, Toddler and Caregiver-Friendly Neighbourhoods Capacity Building Programme focused on city officials and young professionals. Academic Certification Programme, a major component of ITCN Capacity Building Programme, aims to build the capacity of young professionals on the issues around young children and caregiver-friendly neighbourhoods. The Programme will create well informed and skilled professionals to better understand the ITC needs and implement the related aspects to promote inclusive urban development. NIUA has partnered with School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi for developing the training modules for capacity building of young professionals having background in architecture, urban design, urban planning and other related disciplines. SPA Delhi has further collaborated with 6 academic institutes to train the young professionals of the country. These academic institutes include Jadavpur University, Kolkata; NIT Rourkela, Odisha; Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women, Delhi; NIT Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh; Manipal School of Architecture and Planning, Karnataka; and Sir J J College of Architecture, Mumbai. There are 4 modules under the Academic Certification Programme and Module-4 discusses the need and process of integration of ECD in urban policy and development, identify the areas for formulation of projects for ITCN planning and design and identify key stakeholders and their roles and responsibilities to implement ITC friendly neighbourhoods.
