Property Tax is the Greatest Source of Revenue for a Municipal Corporation. GIS has been identified as catalyst in increasing the Tax Net. This course is essentially designed for the cities to understand, why GIS is important for Property Survey and how to develop the complete system. The course is divided in 4 Chapters. Chapter 1 discuss about the Inputs for GIS based Property Tax in terms of Property Register, Building Footprint Capture from Satellite Images, DGPS survey for collection of GCPs for Georeferencing and Attribute data to be collected. Chapter 2 Provides the details of analysis at the back office after the Property Tax survey is over, including updation of base maps, attaching unique property Id, analysing the increase in Annual Rental Value and Taxes, comparision of old and new taxes. Chapter 3 mentions the GIS based Property Tax system via case studies of different municipal corporations. It also mentions the workflow for updation of properties after a defined period of time. Chapter 4 provides the benchmarks to municipal bodies for RFP making including components to be adopted, indicative costs and resources required. This course will help the municipal bodies in understanding the complete lifecycle of the project, its benefit and Cost required to undertake GIS based Property Survey.
