Planning of Faecal Sludge and Septage Management

The module/course has been developed with the collaborative effort of National Faecal Sludge and Septage Management Alliance (NFSSMA) partner organisations under Training Module Review Committee (TMRC) anchored by National Institute of Urban Affairs supported by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF). The course is curated for decision-makers, technical and planning officials from central, state and local governments, and officials from other autonomous/parastatal agencies engaged in urban sanitation. The course is divided into two parts consisting of a total of 10 sessions. This particular module consists of the first 5 sessions (1-5) that is Part-A, covering various aspects such as urban sanitation, national missions and programmes, and state and city-level approaches for FSSM. Part B consists of the remaining sessions from 6 to 10 covering the aspects of stakeholders management, operation and maintenance, project management and sustainability. A participant must successfully complete the Part-A module before joining the Part B module. The course is designed to enable participants to plan for faecal sludge and septage management, through various national missions namely, Smart City Mission, SBM-U 2.0, AMRUT 2.0, NMCG and the recommendations of the 15th Finance Commission, and thereby achieving the targets of SDG 6.2 and 6.3.
