MANAGING THE LAST JOURNEY: Issues and challenges faced, in provision and functioning of Death related physical assets, by Urban Local Bodies.

The loss of a loved one is distressing, often worsened by poorly designed death care facilities. Numerous cases highlight inefficiencies and indignities in such spaces. Under the 12th Schedule of the Constitution’s 74th Amendment Act, 1992, Urban Local Bodies are responsible for maintaining burial grounds, cremation facilities, and electric crematoriums. This research identifies key challenges, evaluates efficiency, and recommends improvements for dignified service delivery.
